Nothing That Has Lived Can Be Destroyed (2018)

In November 2017 I returned to the Virgin Islands to assist my mother in cleaning up her storm-destroyed home after Hurricane Irma. On the first day, I discovered a box of water-damage photographs of orchids taken by my now-deceased uncle sometime in the 1980s. The panel in the video reproduces one of these photos. The title of this piece arrived as words I heard repeated in my mind over the sound of a chainsaw as I cut up debris for several days in our yard.
